SERVICE

AUDIO EDITING

By editing individual recordings first, I ensure the best possible foundation for all subsequent steps in the mixing process.

Speech and vocal recordings often contain smacks, hisses, plosives, unwanted reverb, and other sources of interference, which I can greatly reduce or even remove.

Recordings may also have clicks, pops, and dropouts that I can remove precisely without creating any audible artifacts.

If there is a rhythmic deviation in an otherwise excellent take, I can correct it accurately to the beat without changing the pitch or overall length.

AUDIO MIXING

As a mixing engineer, my job is to take individual tracks and blend them together to create a cohesive and polished final product.

This involves matching each track in terms of sound and dynamics, while also incorporating other elements like effects, samples, automation, and more.

During the mixing process, I can add or replace instruments, adjust vocals syllable by syllable, and fine-tune the overall sound to bring out the best in each track.

I have a wide range of virtual instruments, samples, plugins, and outboard gear at my disposal to achieve the best possible result.

DRUMS ReSAMPLING

Recording drums can be the biggest challenge for many bands in order to achieve high-quality results. However, even poorly recorded drums can be salvaged through this process called resampling.

This may even involve creating a virtual recording of an acoustic drum kit, which is then processed further in the form of up to 32 mono channels. This allows for the timing and dynamics of the original performance to be retained as best as possible, while avoiding the impression of a drum machine.

To accomplish this, I use Toontrack's Superior Drummer, which offers countless kits recorded in first-class studios as a basis. I can ensure that the resampled drums blend seamlessly with the rest of the mix and sound natural.

GUITAR ReAMPING

Reamping guitars or bass involves recording the instrument's DI signal and then playing it back through a different amp, speaker, or mic setup, without compromising the original performance.

In some cases, the original guitar or bass recording may not suit the desired mix. In these instances, a DI box can be used to tap the signal between the instrument/pedals and the amplifier.

When mixing, the ability to adjust amp and mic settings can lead to superior results. With access to a range of amps and pedals from Fractal Audio System's Axe-Fx III, plugins from Neural DSP, and high-quality impulse responses, the possibilities for tone shaping and sound design are endless.

FAQ

  • What is the process for your service?

Just get in touch with me and let's discuss your ideas. I will send you a link where you can upload your project, allowing me to get a first impression and provide a more accurate estimate of the effort required.

For a single song, you can expect to receive your project back within a week of placing your order. EPs and LPs may require additional time.

My offer includes two revisions. Take your time to review my work and provide any requests for changes. After a few days, I will send you the revised version and we can discuss any additional changes.

In addition to the final version, I can provide instrumental and a cappella versions, as well as STEMS (stereo mixes of the individual groups), upon request.

  • What services do you offer?

I offer cutting, editing, and correction of individual tracks to create the best possible foundation for subsequent mixing, especially if the tracks haven't been processed in this regard.

In addition to editing and mixing, I can incorporate virtual instruments, replace or enhance drum sounds with samples, and re-record bass or guitar using their DI signal.

For pure voice recordings, such as vocals, podcasts, interviews, and more, additional treatments may be required to remove unwanted background noise.

Depending on the musical style, I can record additional guitar and bass parts myself. If you need help with creative questions or tweaking the arrangement, I'm happy to offer advice.

My services not only include mixing and all the associated steps, but also other aspects of music production.

Here you can find more information about my services. For examples of my work, please take a look at my portfolio.

  • What about mastering?

After the mixing process is completed, your music undergoes final touches and is adjusted to commercial volume. Depending on your preferences, certain industry standards can be followed, and reference tracks can be used as a guide.

Different music distribution platforms, such as streaming services, CDs, and vinyl, have specific requirements that are also considered during mastering. The tracks of your EP/LP are harmonized to achieve a coherent overall sound, and the mastering process also involves arranging the track order, transitions, and pauses.

At the end of the mastering process, a DDP file is created, which includes essential information such as album title, artist, track name, and composer, required by pressing plants.

If you wish to have your project mastered by a specialized mastering engineer, I can provide you with the mix without mastering.

  • How can I send you my files?

You can send me your project easily and securely by using a link that I will provide you with. This link will take you directly to a dedicated folder, which has been set up for you and me only.

In case the size of your project exceeds your upload capabilities, you can also send me the files via mail, using a DVD, Blu-Ray, or USB stick.

  • How should I prepare my files for your service?

To ensure the best results, please export all separate tracks of your project as at least 44.1 kHz / 24-bit .wav files. Ideally, all tracks should be without any additional effects such as reverb or delay.

If you have additional effects, please send them in parallel as a separate track. A rough mix of the existing recordings is also welcome, as it can serve as a reference point for me.

Virtual instruments played via MIDI must also be rendered/bounced as .wav files. The MIDI files themselves can simply be sent along.

If there are tempo and time signature changes, it is useful to create a blank MIDI file spanning the whole project, so these changes will be carried over.

Most importantly, please ensure that all of your audio and MIDI files start exactly at the beginning of your project to keep the precise position of each recording or element.

Besides .wav files, I also accept the following file formats: AIFC, AIFF, WMA, FLAC, OGG, and W64. If anything seems unclear to you, please let me know, and I'll be happy to help you prepare everything necessary.

  • What file format will I receive my finished work in?

You will receive the final version in 48 kHz / 24-bit .wav file format. If desired, I can also provide exports up to 96 kHz / 32-bit .wav files.

In addition, I will provide everything in the format of 44.1 kHz / 16-bit .mp3 with a constant bitrate of 320 kbps, including tags and an embedded cover. If needed, I can also create a DDP file for the pressing plant.

Finally, I will save your project in the cloud and provide you with a link for backup purposes. If you ever lose your files, you can request another link from me.

  • What costs can I expect?

The cost of my mixing services varies depending on the project's scope and complexity. Thus, I can provide you with a precise estimate only after discussing your specific requirements.

I offer a non-binding and free-of-charge consultation to discuss your project's details and provide you with a transparent and accurate estimate of the costs.

For each order, I offer two revisions to ensure that you are satisfied with the final mix. Any additional work beyond that will be billed separately.

  • How is payment processed?

Payment can be made via bank transfer or PayPal. For smaller jobs, such as editing, mixing a simple song, or re-recording guitars, no down payment or advance payment is required.

However, for larger projects such as whole EPs and LPs, an advance payment of 50% of the agreed amount is required.

Once I have received the full payment in the agreed amount, I will send you the final version of your project. For safety reasons, all previous files will be incomplete.

If you have any further questions about the payment process, please don't hesitate to contact me.
